About

I’m an award-winning writer and reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area, who also serves as the Vice President of the Society of Professional Journalists, NorCal chapter.

With more than a decade in journalism, I’m best known for my enterprise and investigative reporting on schools, youth, and families. At the San Francisco Standard, I uncovered hidden sexual misconduct in San Francisco schools and provided expert coverage of SFUSD’s post-recall landscape during a period of intense public attention to local education. I have edited breaking news for SFGate and reported for the San Francisco Chronicle, SF Examiner, and SF Weekly, regularly appearing on ABC7 and KQED. I also spent the advent of the first Trump presidency reporting in a southern Minnesota county split on the country’s direction, and covered other topics like affordable housing, robotaxi regulation, domestic violence, immigration, and more.

I’m a proud San Francisco State University alumnus, having studied Race and Resistance Studies alongside journalism, and was raised in Southern California by Iranian immigrants. I am now editing at San Francisco Public Press and pursuing a Master of Public Policy at UCLA to deepen expertise at the intersection of journalism, public policy, and community impact to ultimately keep everyday people involved in decisions made on their behalf.
